Built by food operators

We’ve had our hands
in the oven, too.

MenuCosting is Clartis Group’s specialist food control and recipe management service. Our team brings over 30 years of combined experience operating food businesses.
When you’re running several locations, the last thing you need is another system to feed with data or teach your team. You need reliable recipe costs across your kitchens, quickly enough to act on them.

That’s why we built a service as well as a platform.
Send us your recipes and supplier invoices as they are: Excel files, PDFs, photos or scans. We organize and enter the information, keep your costs current, and bring you the decisions that matter. No new template to fill in.

  1. 01

We put your recipes in and keep them costed

We enter and maintain your shared recipes, ingredients, pack sizes, yields and sub-recipes as menus and supplier prices change.

  2. 02

We catch the changes that matter

We review supplier-price changes, missing costs and margin pressure. We resolve the data issues before they become misleading numbers.

  3. 03

We turn findings into practical next steps

We bring your kitchen and location managers specific questions and actions on pricing, purchasing, portions and waste. We follow up on what you decide.

  4. 04

    We keep your books, too

With the bookkeeping plan, we maintain your books in QuickBooks and connect your food costs with your business finances.

A simple working rhythm

You run the kitchen.
We keep things current.

A remote service with clear responsibilities. Your team stays in control of business decisions.

01

You share. We set it up.

Send your recipes, supplier invoices and selling prices in the format you already use: Excel, PDFs, photos or scans. We organize the information, put it into the system and follow up on any missing details.

02

We maintain the numbers.

We process new invoices, match ingredients and update the costs of affected recipes. We handle the exceptions and keep your costing current.

03

We bring you the next steps.

We show you what changed, what it means and where a decision is needed. Your team approves changes to suppliers, portions and menu prices.

Less reporting. More clarity.

We show what changed.
And what to do next.

You should not have to search a dashboard to find the problem. We connect a supplier change to the dishes, margins and decisions it affects.

  • ✓ We trace the change back to its source.
  • ✓ We show the impact on a recipe or serving.
  • ✓ We follow up on the next decision.

The 4.8% starting point is an illustrative assumption, not a measured customer average or a savings promise. Food savings assume unchanged sales and other costs. Cost avoidance applies only if you stop paying an existing cost or genuinely avoid a planned hire. This illustration uses ongoing monthly pricing and does not deduct the one-time $500 onboarding fee for monthly plans.

About these example costs and assumptions

Example benchmarks, not market averages: a Soho House cost-controller job in New York lists $65,000 to $70,000 annual base pay. We use the lower figure, about $5,417/month, before employer costs. That role has broader responsibilities than our service. Adjust the amount to the work and expense you would actually replace. Bookkeeper360 advertises bookkeeping from $400/month; QuickBooks Live advertises from $300/month. Scope and setup costs vary. Replace the $400 example with your own recurring fee.

Bookkeeping covers one company or legal entity. Your QuickBooks subscription is paid separately and is not counted as a saving. Tax filing is excluded. Annual figures assume the same scenario for all 12 months.

A few useful answers

Before we
get started.

Clear responsibilities from the beginning.

Who is MenuCosting for?

We focus on food businesses with two or more locations, especially groups with a central kitchen or commissary supplying their sites. We maintain shared recipes, sub-recipes, yields and ingredient costs so your kitchen and location managers have current numbers to work from. A central kitchen is not required: restaurant, café and bakery groups can work with us whether prep is centralized or handled at each location. Current plans include software for up to five locations. We agree the service scope with you before starting.

How does the free managed trial work?

Talk to our team to agree the service scope and trial start date before creating your workspace. During your 30-day trial, we set up your agreed recipes and records and provide the managed service you selected. No card is required. If you decide not to continue, you owe nothing for the onboarding or trial.

What happens after the 30 days?

You decide whether to continue. Food Controller is $299/month. Food Controller with bookkeeping is $349/month total. Continuing monthly includes a one-time $500 onboarding fee, charged only when you confirm your paid plan. Alternatively, prepay $3,289 or $3,839 for 12 months respectively, with onboarding included. That is 12 months for the price of 11, starting after your trial. We do not automatically charge you or choose a plan for you.

What does a fractional food control team mean?

You get a team responsible for the recurring food-cost work, without hiring someone full time for the role. We maintain the costing, review exceptions and follow up with your operators on the decisions that matter.

How do we keep our fees so low?

Our platform handles the repeatable work: reading invoices, matching ingredients and recalculating recipe costs. Our team focuses on exceptions, checks and follow-through. You get the benefit of the technology without having to run another system yourself.

Do we still get access to the software?

Yes. Both service plans include MenuCosting software for up to five locations. Your team can view recipes, costs, inventory, sales-demand projections and operational work in the same workspace. Explore the complete software feature catalogue.

What do you need from our team?

Send your existing recipes, supplier invoices and current selling prices as Excel files, PDFs, photos or scans. You do not need to retype them or move them into our template. We organize and enter the information, then follow up with your team where details such as pack sizes or yields are missing or unclear. For stock-loss analysis, we also need reliable counts and recorded stock movements. For bookkeeping, we agree access to QuickBooks and the relevant financial records.

What is included in the $349 bookkeeping plan?

The total $349 monthly price includes Food Controller and bookkeeping for one company or legal entity, using your QuickBooks account. We record supplier bills and expenses, reconcile sales and bank/card transactions, and maintain monthly books and financial reports. You pay the QuickBooks subscription separately. Tax filing is excluded. We confirm the scope with you before starting.

Do you change menu prices or suppliers for us?

We bring you the facts and recommendations. Your team makes and approves the business decisions, including changes to selling prices, suppliers, recipes and portions.

Can you guarantee savings?

No. We give you maintained costs and a consistent process for finding and acting on problems. The outcome depends on your starting point, the quality of your records and the decisions your team makes. The savings illustration above is an example, not a forecast.
